Numbers reduced by 92 head to 950 at Toowoomba on Monday, and overall quality was mixed with increased numbers of poor condition classes in the cow section, and virtually no good quality heavy grown steers and bullocks were penned.
Buyer attendance was not as good as the previous week. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock experienced little change in price, and medium weight yearling steers to feed followed a similar trend. However a lesser quality line-up of heavy weight yearling steers to feed resulted in a fall in average prices.
All classes of yearling heifers received only quality related price changes. A good supply of cows varied in price according to quality, and poor condition classes sold to a cheaper trend, while good heavy cows averaged 6c to 8c/kg better.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 236c and made to 252.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 289c with sales to 300c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 302.2c, to average 293c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers sold to processors at an average of 225c with some to 236.2c, and restocker classes averaged 184c, and poor quality lines predominately sold around 143c/kg.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged in the 250c range and made to 269.2c/kg. A handful of good quality grown heifers made to 321.2c/kg. Medium weight poor condition cows averaged 167c and made to 196.2c, and medium weight 2 scores averaged 213c/kg. Good heavy cows made to 280.2c to average close to 275c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 274.2c/kg.
