A water-bombing helicopter has come down while battling a bushfire on the Darling Downs this afternoon.
Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor for the Darling Downs Mark Hancock said they were first called out to Grapetree Road, Pechey at 1.52pm, with the initial report that the helicopter had made a hard landing in the Pechey State Forest Area.
"On scene we found a male patient, the only person on board on the helicopter as the pilot, with minor injuries," he said.
The pilot was assessed by paramedics and transported by road to Toowoomba Base Hospital.
Conditions surrounding the fast-moving Pechey fire, near Hampton had been worsening this afternoon, with QFES earlier issuing advice for residents to leave the area.
