There were 448 head of cattle sold at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale on Monday.
With western buyers active, the market improved for weaners and feeder cattle. Cows and vealers sold well, while younger, plainer cattle remained firm.
Donna Magnay, Neurum, sold Santa cows for $1180-$1200. Brian Kuhn, Kilcoy, sold Droughtmaster steers, 15 months, for $960. Robyn McLaughlin, Maleny, sold Droughtmaster steers for $930.
Darryl Duncan, Mount Mee, sold Blonde cross steers for $925. Bruce and Vi Palmer, Peachester, sold Santa heifers for $705. Lawrie Flynn, Mt Beppo, sold Limousin cows to $1120.
Steve Stevenson, Kilcoy, sold a Hereford bull for $1320. Grantley Burchmann, Rockside, sold lines of Droughtmaster and Santa cross heifers for $745. Dean Bauer, Moorina, sold Limousin cross calves, with steers making $585 and heifers $545.
The Whiston Whanau Trust, Mount Mee, sold a line of Droughtmaster weaner steers for $680. Kevin Hennessey, Mount Mee, sold a line of Charbray heifer calves for $600.
Glen and Maureen Noakes, Mount Mee, sold Santa steers for $670. Paul Keylar, Dayboro, sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for $740-$785. BBMD Developments, Kilcoy, sold Charbray heifers for $870.
