Numbers increased by 185 to 1042 at Toowoomba on Monday and young cattle were in the largest numbers along with a small selection of heavy grown steers and a fair sample of mixed quality cows.
Buyer attendance was generally good and all were operating.
Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 10c to 21c/kg better. Light weight yearling heifers to processors were well supplied and prices could not maintain the levels of the previous week to average 25c cheaper.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed and the trade gained 10c to 14c. Cows generally sold to a dearer trend with improvements of 4c to 7c and up to 10c/kg in places.
The best of the light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 239c and made to 244.2c, while poor quality lines predominantly sold around 199c. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 289c and sold to 316.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 325.2c to average 310c and local trade lines made to 330.2c, to average 319c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers to processors averaged 195c and restocker or backgrounder classes averaged 227c and made to 244.2c/kg. A large sample of poor quality lines averaged from 138c to 147c/kg.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 259c, and local trade lines made to 294.2c to average 279c, and the occasional heavy weight to the trade made to 307.2c/kg.
A handful of heavy grown steers to export slaughter made to 340.2c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 224c, and the best of the medium weights made to 269.2c/kg.
Good heavy cows made to 270.2c, to average 267c/kg.
