TOP quality grainfed cattle dominated the 689 head yarding at the Boyd O'Brien Bartholomew's annual Moreton Classic Show and Sale.
Judged by Brent Evans, Nolan Meats, and Glenn Poole, Teys Australia, the champion grainfed pen came from Stanhope Cattle Company, Wondai. The 760kg Charolais/Droughmaster-cross steers were bought at the annual Toogoolawah weaner sales and had been on feed for 120 days. They sold for 360c/kg to return $2736/head.
Cliff Shelley, Kingsford Farms, had the champion grainfed export beast, which was fed at Freestone Feedlot, Warwick. The 665kg Charbray steer sold for 350c ($2327).
The champion grainfed export beast was a 440kg three quarters Limousin/Speckled Park-cross from Jason Livingstone, Maidenwell, which made 380c ($1672).
Charlie, Vicki and Rachael Clarke, Grassmere, Beechmont, had the champion grassfed animal with a 680kg Charbray, which sold for 339c ($2305).
Brisbane Valley Protein, Coominya, had the champion feeders with a pen of 482kg Simmental-cross steers that sold for 308c ($1484).
