Simon Cattle Co, Middlemount, sold numerous pens of Brangus steers at the Central Queensland Livestock Exchange, Gracemere, on October 11.
Effectively sandwiched between bigger sales when producers acquired new seed stock at the Rockhampton Brahman Week and Brangus female and bulls sales, the Friday sale attracted a "good" buying bench, a sale official said.
By the end of the day Simon Cattle Co had parted company with 48 head for 282c/kg.
With an average weight of 349kg, the return to Simon Cattle Co was $984/head, according to a spokesman for the combined agents overseeing the sale.
The Simon Cattle Co consignment was part of a reduced yarding of 1858 head comprising 894 steers, 624 heifers, 306 cows, 10 bulls and 24 cow and calf units.
"Cattle came from the usual draw areas of central Queensland and were very mixed in quality and condition, which made buying much more challenging," a spokesman for the combined agents operating at CQLX said.
"Consequently, prices struggled to maintain previous rates in many classes."
Steers sold from a low price of 68c/kg for those weighing between 200-300kg to a high of 216c/kg for slaughter articles.
Cows were on the market from 100c/kg (weighed up to 320kg) up to a high of 185c/kg for slaughter and heifers sold from 100c/kg (200-300kg) to 135c/kg (under 200kg).
Bulls were sold for prices up to 220c/kg (450-600kg).
Amberkolly Grazing, Collinsville, earned a return of $1752/head for Brahman bullocks, selling them for 297c/kg on a weight of 590kg.
Cedar Creek Grazing, Gogango, parted with Droughtmaster cows to a top of 229c/kg, weighing 544kg for a return of $1246/hd.

C Huntly, Ridgelands, sold Charbray steers for an average price of 282c/kg, to return $739/hd and R and M Rutten, Biloela, sold cows and calves to make $975/hd.

The Emerald yarding comprises 894 steers, 460 heifers and 346 prime cattle.
The prime cattle listing offers 42 bullocks, 236 cows, 24 heifers and 44 bulls for sale.
