There were 252 head of cattle sold at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale on Monday. With some good local rainfall during the week, the market was stronger for all types, with some younger lines of cattle nearly doubling in price.
Steve Stevenson, Kilcoy, sold Hereford cross cows for $1490. Peter Klein, Cedarton, sold Angus cross steers for $910-$1100. Richard Eaton-Wells, Moorina, sold milk tooth Droughtmaster heifers for $1000.
Mervyn Green, Villeneuve, sold Droughtmaster and Santa weaners, with steers making $840-$970 and heifers $700. K & N Stanton, Neurum, sold Charbray weaner steers for $870 and Droughtmaster steers for $770. Nevil Green, Villeneuve, sold medium Droughtmaster cows for $990.
Baker & Haseler Estates, Dayboro, sold Charolais cross steers for $640, heifers for $530 and the top cow and calf for $1200. Collins Grazing, Anduramba, sold lines of Droughtmaster, Charbray and Brangus heifers to average $610.
Darcy Pratten, Mt Kilcoy, sold Brangus calves, with steers making $530 and heifers $470. James Hennessey, Delaneys Creek, sold a line of Charbray heifer calves for $455. Roseville Partners, Mt Kilcoy, sold Murray Grey steers for $585.
Chistine Aitken, Toogoolawah, sold Droughtmaster store calves, with steers making $450 and heifers $260. Ron Pryde, Sheep Station Creek, sold Brangus cross weaners, with steers selling to $820 and heifers for $600.
