Toowoomba-based beef business Mort & Co has been recognised once again for export excellence, claiming a major accolade at this year's Premier of Queensland's Export Awards.
Mort & Co won the Agribusiness, Food and Beverages award, presented in Brisbane on Thursday night at a gala event.
With headquarters in Toowoomba and feedlot facilities in Dalby and Millmerran, Mort & Co is one of Australia's largest and most experienced managers of lot-fed cattle, exporting premium beef to markets around the world.
The company also won the Agribusiness category in last year's export awards.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk congratulated Mort & Co and said regional exporters made a major contribution to the Queensland economy.
"Queensland has around 7,300 goods exporters, who contributed $87.4 billion to the state's economy in the 12 months to August 2019," she said.
"Around 40 per cent of these exporters are based in regional areas, helping to take the best of regional Queensland to markets around the world.
"I congratulate Mort & Co and all the regional exporters who contribute to their communities and create jobs and prosperity for the state."
A total of 17 winners were announced at the event, with Brisbane food manufacturing business Trisco Foods named the Premier of Queensland's Exporter of the Year 2019.
Queensland winners in national award categories will now go on to compete in the Australian Export Awards, to be held in Canberra on December 3.
