Some of the Brahman breed's best genetics will go under the hammer this week during the Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale.
Studs from as far afield as the Hunter region of NSW and Charters Towers will offer 524 grey sires on Monday and Tuesday, with the red portion of 343 bulls kicking off on Tuesday afternoon.
Australian Brahman Breeders' Association manager Anastasia Fanning said the appeal of the RBWS was the sheer number of red and grey Brahmans available for purchase in one place at one time.
"The same bulls don't always appeal to all buyers, so because of the numbers available, buyers have the ability to look for the traits they require and bid on the bulls within their budgets," she said.
The 2018 sale topped at $100,000 when Steve and Theresa Taylor, Clukan Brahmans, Jambin, sold Clukan Axel 333/7 (AI) (ET) (P) for three-quarter share and full possession plus 50 straws of semen to Kelvin and Libby and Ron and Grace Harriman, GI Brahmans, Muttaburra.
