Cutting edge research, technology and international speakers promise to keep lotfeeders interested at this week's SmartBeef conference in Dalby.
The two-day conference, which will kick off on Wednesday with a welcome function that also celebrates 25 year of the National Feedlot Accreditation Scheme, is by hosted by the Australian Lot Feeders' Association.
ALFA president Bryce Camm said the sold-out conference would see more than 320 industry members attend.
"We've got a good event team who have put together a great programme," he said.
Mr Camm said the conference would highlight technological developments.
"People also love hearing other operators's stories," he said.
"We've got Tom Green from Iranda Beef in South Australia and also Russell Lethbridge from whom we'll hear about the importance of feedlotting to the northern beef industry.
"I think people will respond really well to those speakers."
Other highlights include keynote speaker, Sam Barringer from Diamond V, who will outline the direct link between food security and national security, a futuristic tour from Virtual Farm's Tim Gentle, and Texan taste insights from celebrity guest chef and "hardcore carnivore" Jess Pryles.
An industry expert panel discussion, live cattle handling demonstration, research and development technology showcases and a discussion of the animal rights movement and biosecurity will also be part of the event.
Industry excellence will also be recognised during the conference with accolades to be handed out including the Young Lot Feeder of the Year, the Excellence in Feedlot Education Medal, the Innovator of the Year award and the Outstanding Services to the Lot Feeding Sector award.
Mr Camm said it promised to be a great event, highlighting industry innovation.
"There's a very social element as well, it's great for lotfeeders to get together," he said.
