Numbers increased by 217 head to 763 at Toowoomba on Monday.
Very mixed quality young cattle were in the largest numbers, and there was an increased number of poor condition cows penned, and no heavy grown steers and bullocks.
A fair panel of buyers was present and operating across all classes, however restocker buyers were selective in their purchases.
Light weight yearling steers could not maintain the levels of the previous sale. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market received stronger support. Light weight yearling heifers experienced a mixed trend with slaughter classes losing ground in price, while restocker or background lines sold to good demand. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to strong competition. All classes of cows sold to a firm market for the quality penned.
Steer calves sold to restockers at an average of 233c with sales to 250.2c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 238c with the occasional pen to 266.2c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 272c with a few to 289.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed were scarce with a handful reaching 279.2c, and the occasional sale to the trade at 300c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers to processors averaged 191c and made to 215.2c, and restocker or background classes made to 222.2c to average 214c, and poor quality lines averaged 133c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 249c and made to 255.2c, and the occasional heavy weight to the trade made to 293.2c/kg.
Poor condition medium weight cows averaged 148c and made to 176.2c/kg. Medium weight 2 scores mostly sold around 182c with some to 200.2c/kg. Good heavy cows made to 240.2c to average 230c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 270.2c/kg.
