There were 1638 cattle and 7740 sheep from Queensland offered on AuctionsPlus last week.


Cattle numbers from Queensland rose by 400 head see 1638 cattle offered on AuctionsPlus last week. Steers weighing 200-280kg remained steady on the previous week, averaging 302c and selling from 258c to 354c. A line 279kg Droughtmaster cross steers from Baralaba returned 293c. Averaging 311c, up 1c, steers weighing 280-330kg sold from 267c to 364c.

Angus steers 285kg from Cooyar returned 311c. Heavy steers over 330kg averaged 314c, selling from 305c to 346c. From Hillston, NSW a line of Angus feeder steers, weighing 387kg achieved 315c to a Qld buyer.

Heifers weighing 280-330kg ranged from 196c to 325c, to average 280c, up 15c. Angus heifers 318kg from Dulacca made 297c.

Demand for PTIC cows was stronger, seeing clearance improve by 18 per cent to 72pc, with an average of $1171. Selling nationally from $750 to $1270, the top price was returned by two lines from Blackwater offered by Queensland Agricultural Training Colleges. These prices were achieved by a line of 66 Brahman cross cows, 3-6 years, PTIC to Brahman bulls and 66 Brangus cross, 3-5 year old cows, PTIC to Brahman, Brangus and Charbray bulls.


Sheep number numbers from Queensland rose again online by 1600 head to see 7740 sheep and lambs offered. There were 17,000 new season Merino wether lambs offered across the country last week, seeing 82pc clearance and prices rise by $5 to average $122, selling from $81 to $157.

April/May '19 drop lambs 45kg from Tambo sold to a buyer from NeSW for $142; while one-year-old 32kg hoggets from Talwood sold for $85. New season lamb numbers once again rose last week by 10,000 head to see 26,500 head, seeing an 84pc clearance.

March/April '19 drop 33kg White Dorper mixed sex lambs from St George sold for $120. Processors were active last week with light and trade lamb and mutton orders to fill. May-shorn, old Merino lambs from Cooma weighing between 19kg and 25kg dressed sold from $141 to $157, or 628c/kg dressed to 755c/kg dressed, including skin value.
