A total of 30 Australian White rams sold to a $1006 average at the Queensland Australian White Ram sale auction held at the Stanthorpe Showgrounds last Friday.
Immediately at the auction it was announced 24 rams sold for an average $1000 to James Milsen, Woodbine, Blackall.
The sale topped at $1100 on two occasions giving both vendors Murray and Helen Schroder of Keilah Stud, Inglewood and Mark and Angela Davey, Springdale Stud equal top price honours.
Volume buyers were David and Michelle Murray, Boolara, Meandarra, who finished with 10 rams to average $1000/head. Repeat buyers, the couple returned after investing in these genetics for the first time last year.
Due to the drought the Murrays have reduced their flock numbers from 2000 to 1500 Dorper ewes and are hand feeding all sheep. They used AuctionsPlus and the Warwick Saleyards to market their ewes when they made the decision to lighten their ewe numbers.
Other volume buyers included Max Heath, Pratten, via Warwick who finished with three rams to average $1000.
Both vendors said the season played havoc on the result, but they were happy with the confidence expressed in difficult circumstances on the day. Selling agents: TopX Warwick and Ray White Rural, Warwick.
