BULLS sold to a top of $14,000 to average $4760 at the Bunya Droughtmaster sale conducted by GDL and Aussie Land and Livestock at Kingaroy on Saturday.
Despite the ongoing drought conditions and the foreboding dust and smoke choked skies, top quality bulls were in particular demand.
Sale topper was Bryvonlea Tyson, a 25 month old PP bull with a 134 square centimetre eye muscle area, that sold to Colin Codd and his son in law Darren Fisher, Lockyer Pastoral, Mount Hallen, Esk. Offered by Brian and Yvonne Heck, 809kg Tyson (Vale View Ripper) had 13/9 fat measurements, a 39.5cm scrotal measurement, and a 81 per cent semen morphology.
The Hecks also sold Bryvonlea Titan (Vale View Ripper) for the equal second top price of $12,000 to Cec Pelling, Fernleigh Droughtmasters, Theodore. That bull 26 month old PH bull had a 144sq cm EMA. Fernleigh also bought 23 month old Bryvonlea Tarzan for $9000.
David, Colleen and Mac Smith, Vale View, Manumbar, sold Vale View Adventurer 2 for the equal second top price of $12,000 to Steven Swan and Allison Hotz, Swan Droughtmasters, Moura. Adventurer 2 (Vale View M Ballistic) had a 138sq cm EMA and 13/10 fat measurements.
Kiverton Faxton (PP), a 23 month by Waringle Station Hand (P) - the top priced bull at the first Bunya sale in 2014 - and from Bryvonlea Free (P), sold for $8000 to the Gibson family, Biggenden. Offered by David and Elizabeth Spring, Kiverton Droughtmasters, Harlin, Flaxton had a 133sq cm EMA and 41cm scrotal measurement and 31/11 fat measurements.
Jeff and Sue Trott, Mundubbera, paid $7000 for the Smith's 22 month old PP bull Vale View Buck 2.
A total of 36 buyers operated at the sale. Volume buyer was Les Howard, Benjamin, Maryborough, with five.
In summary, 52 of the 79 bulls offered sold under the hammer to achieve 66pc clearance for a $4760 average.
