A deep pool of stellar Braford genetics will create a plethora of buying opportunities for those attending the National Braford Sale taking place on Monday, September 9 at CQLX Gracemere from 9am.
Sale committee president Russell Kenny said 24 studs from throughout Queensland and New South Wales have selected 139 registered bulls, four herd bulls and two heifers for the 2019 catalogue.
"The draft assembled is uniformly strong throughout and will provide buyers with a good scope of the national Braford genetic poll to select from," Mr Kenny said.
"Buyers can be assured of versatility in the market place, and value for money when you buy a Braford at the sale," he said.
Last year, the vendors who offered drafts at the sale achieved a solid average of $6946 for the combined draft, which reached a high of $28,000 twice, in very dry conditions.
"The adaptability to environmental conditions, is a key advantage of the breed. The Braford can handle the dry times."
He said while some vendors have received rain in the lead-up to the sale overall conditions have been very patchy.
"We're all hoping for the Spring rain which we usually receive later in season, and on a positive note cattle prices are holding which is good to see."
Mr Kenny said the sale is also a highlight event on the annual social calendar for those involved with the breed.
"We'll be celebrating the occasion on Sunday, September 8, at the Gracemere Hotel from 5.30pm with drinks and nibbles while some items will also be auctioned off for the Braford Youth Promotional. All are welcome."
He said a another highlight of the 2019 sale will be the charity auction of a heifer being offered by the Bennett family, Little Valley Grazing Co.
"The Bennett's are celebrating 50 years of breeding Brafords this year and this was their way of giving back to the sale. All proceeds from the sale of the heifer will go to the Australian Braford Society."
From 2pm on Sunday, September 8, prospective buyers will be able to inspect the draft at CQLX.
