TRAINER Krystle Johnston has stuck with senior jockey Jason Missen rather than seek a claiming apprentice for Executed in the $24,000 Gympie Muster Cup (1470m) on August 17.
The handicapper has given Executed topweight of 67kg, a call of 1.5kg over the next highest weighted runner Fab's Cowboy, though the latter's original impost will be lowered courtesy of rider Minonette Kennedy's claim.
Kennedy, an apprentice, can claim an allowance of three kilos, which would cut Fab's Cowboy's weight to 62.5kg, less than he carried into second spot at Roma on July 27.
Executed, part-owned by the trainer's dad Stan Johnston, Craiglea Stud, Kenilworth, is paying for consistent form.
He has collected prizemoney in three of his past five outings, including successive victories on July 27 and August 3 at Bundaberg and Nanango, respectively.
Missen was aboard in Executed's back-to-back wins when the eight-year-old lumped 64.5kg, then 66kg.
The Sunshine Coast-trained Executed's overall form is outstanding. From 57 starts, he has won 19 times and been placed on another 18 occasions for earnings of $579,600, better than $10,000 each time he runs.
Bundaberg-based Darryl Gardiner has retained claimer Hannah Phillips for Al's Brief after they shared placings in Bundaberg on May 4 and July 27 either side of a Wondai third when Amy Van Der Sanden was his rider.
Brisbane trainer Pat Duff, who grew up on the Downs and was a leading trainer at Clifford Park in Toowoomba before a highly successful graduation to the city, has Fasta Than Light (Miki Nakao) running.
Fasta Than Light has shown improvement in both outings following a barrier trial placing on his home track at Deagon on July 23, which preceded his third at Bundaberg four days later and a Nanango second on August 3.
Robert Faehr will ride Craiglea Cetina, a stablemate to Executed and Matthew Powell has been engaged for the Kristy Best-trained Mahrata.
Cecily Eaton will ride the Rockhampton visitor Option for the Mick Attard stable.
Country star Marksfield, placed in the Recent Battle of the Bush Final at Eagle Farm, is trying for his 13th career win and first since May. Gary Geran is again riding the Matt Kropp-trained gelding.
Supervisor is an early scratching.
