SUNWATER is under fire for its management of creeks running into Coolmunda Dam near Inglewood, with landholders saying tens of thousands of cubic metrics of gravel and silt have choked the waterways.
The Macintyre Brook and its tributaries the Bracker and Nanny creeks are part of a controlled, ponded area of Coolmunda Dam when it is at capacity.
Landholder Shelley Rielly said SunWater did not want to know about the problem despite water being unable to properly flow down the creeks since an intense storm hit the area in December.
"Any water is now pushed out over the banks and is not making it to Coolmunda," Mrs Rielly said. "There are also no waterholes in the creeks, that are necessary for households and livestock."
While landowners were recently given permission to remove material from the creeks, Mrs Rielly said the responsibility for high cost of maintenance the waterways should rest with SunWater.
"The risk is the work will not be done before summer, when it will hopefully rain," she said.
