The iconic Muckadilla Hotel situated 40 kilometres west of Roma was destroyed by fire last Thursday leaving locals devastated.
It is understood the fire started at a neighboring house around 3pm and spread to the hotel and quickly tore through the building.
According to the hotel's website, the pub was built in 1912 but the original bar burnt down in 1960.
The building also housed nine motel rooms and it is understood that the hotel was for sale.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said five crews battled to bring the fire under control but could not save building.
Maranoa Regional councillor Janelle Stanford said the hotel was the heart of Muckadilla and she could only imagine how badly this would affect the whole community.
She said the owners too were devastated by the blaze and lost all their possessions and are currently staying with relatives in the south.
"They managed to escape quickly and no one was hurt in the blaze," Cr Stanford said.
