The 2019 Marsh Queensland Rural Ambassador title has been awarded to Gympie representative Myles Newcombe.
Representing the Near North Coast Sub Chamber, Mr Newcombe went up against 10 other strong competitors from across that state.
Speaking on behalf of the judging panel, AnnMarie Rodgers, Marsh Insurance Brokers, said the calibre of the finalists made for a tough decision, but Mr Newcombe's passion for the rural industry was clear.
When he's not working as a plumber or running his Charbray seedstock and commercial enterprises, Mr Newcombe is president of his local stock horse branch and heavily involved in the Gympie Show Society.
After accepting the award, Mr Newcombe said he was looking forward to showcasing what his region has to offer.
"But also too, to be promoting and provoking thoughts and passion in the rural industry, not only young people but also anyone who wants to get into it and have a go," he said.
"It was fantastic, unreal to be here to represent not only my local region, but my state.
"I'm very passionate about the rural industry and it's something I want to continue to be in for the rest of my life."
Brianna Hockey, Childers, was named the 2019 Marsh Queensland Rural Ambassador runner up, and Matthew Castino, Cairns, was recognised with the Community Spirit Award.
