GLOUCESTER stud Little Manning Devons walked away with both the grand champion female and bull exhibits on Friday at the Ekka.
Junior champion bull Little Manning Able went up against senior champion bull Vix Millstone, exhibited by Vic Edwards, Vix Stock Breeding, Mullaley, to be awarded the grand champion ribbon.
The 15-month-old bull, by Ro Ern H1 and out of Little Manning Amber, weighed in at 534kg, recorded an EMA of 104sq cm and an average daily weight gain of 1.17kg.
Judge Tim Light, Lagoona Red Poll Stud, Armidale, said the junior exhibits were of outstanding quality for their age.
"We found two junior champions out there to become our grand champions," he said.
"The junior female is a really functional, free-moving feminine, soft female which is why we put her up over the cow and calf for the supreme."
"The little bull calf he is just a powerhouse - a real sirey bull. He's free-moving, tracks really well, has plenty of depth of hindquarter, meat and muscle."
Mr Light said the champion exhibits were a credit to the breed.
Champion female Little Manning Miss Zena 2, by Little Manning Mars and out of Little Manning Miss Zena was commended for her overall doability and functionality.
"We worked on structure - once we got the seniors out with the juniors, the juniors were just set out better in the hind leg structure.
"The senior bull was probably a bit lighter in the hind legs, he didn't track and flow as well as the junior bull, we're really impressed with the junior he had that hind feet structure to get him up and over that senior - same as the junior heifer.
"We got her out with the senior and the senior probably just didn't stand quite right and just a little bit under herself and not quite as square as the heifer we put up.
"We're really happy with the two champions we put up today," he said.
