Prime cattle, any feedlot cattle and better quality weaner steers sold strongly at Monto.

Better quality cattle saw rises in the market for Monto Cattle and Country's fortnightly fat and store sale where 600 head were yarded. Prime cattle and any feedlot cattle sold strongly along with better quality weaner steers while light heifers remained hard to shift.

Heavy bulls sold to 246c topping at $2565. WR and AM Goody sold Charbray bullocks 657kg for $1935 or 294c. GK Knight sold bullocks from 270 to 285c or $1760. Salisbury Farming sold Santa cows to $1230 or 220c. Pat Williams' Santa cows returned $1215 or 220c. Cam and Rachel Zieth sold Droughtmaster cows for 223c or $1177. Conway Barnard's Brahman cross cows returned $1152 or 218c. KWS Partnership's Charbray cows sold to $1200 or 221c.

The Younger family sold Brahman cross Brangus cross No.8 steers which sold for 279 to 284c topping at $1150. Salisbury Farming's 380kg Charolais cross No.8 steers returned $1100 or 290c. P and C Pegler sold 353kg Droughtmaster steers for $950 or 270c and weaner steers for $770 or 272c. Pat Williams sold Santa weaner steers for $900 or 280c. Lighter weaner steers sold from 230 to 260c.

IL and LE Perkins sold Angus No.8 heifers 315kg for 265c or $836. GS Ogle sold Brahman heifers 490kg for 269c or $1320. Salisbury Farming's Charolais cross heifers 343kg sold to 259c or $890. John Sinclair and family sold Brahman cross heifers for 258c or $900.

Lighter heifers were harder to place and generally sold from 160 to 185c.
