Export categories and quality trade cattle improved in price, but plainer descriptions were harder to sell at Toowoomba on Monday.

There were 814 head yarded at Elders Harristown Saleyards on Monday.

Export categories improved in price along with quality trade cattle, however, plainer descriptions were harder to sell. Best bulls reached $2754. Quality Hereford bullocks a/c Stirling family, Pittsworth sold in pen lots to 308.2c/kg to return $1898. Bullocks a/c R and E Dull topped the sale at 321.2c to return $1927. No heavy feeder steers or heifers were yarded.

Heavy trade heifers reached 290.2c to return $1581. Best cows a/c Jan Wood returned $1544. Best trade steers a/c GF and JR McCormack, Oakey weighing 335kg sold to 294.2c to return $984. A line of 24 Angus cross steers a/c Newman family, Wyreema average weight 305kg sold to a top of 270c to return an impressive average of $798 with the heifer portion of 24 head average weight of 282kg topping at 250c for an overall average of $658.
