There were 617 head yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market remained firm to stronger for cows, feeders and weaners. The veal and younger heifer buyers were all in attendance, but operating with reduced rates.
Colleen Fitzgerald, Ingoldsby, sold a Charolais bull for $1520, Droughtmaster cross cows to $1420 and Charolais male calves for $500-$640. Clarence Smith, Flagstone, sold Red Brangus heifers for $1450 and Brangus calves for $500. Michael McGuane, Mt Sylvia, sold Droughtmaster cows for $1165.
Barry McConnell, Lower Tenthill, sold a Droughtmaster bull for $1580. Bevan and Lynne Bachmann, Lake Clarendon, sold Charbray yearlings, with steers making $1070 and heifers $890. Lehmann family, Coolana, sold lines of Charolais cross steers, 6-7 months, for $630-$725 and heifers for $540. Ian Lake, Rosewood, sold Droughtmaster heifers for $810. Country Wide Farms, Ebenezer, sold lines of Shorthorn steers for $900-$1000. Tony and Chris Gear, Ma Ma Creek, sold Brangus weaner steers for $790. Gary Campbell, Laidley, sold Angus steers for $840.
