Work to revamp Clermont's saleyards and showgrounds is underway, with an additional $2.95 million of projects earmarked as priorities for the precinct.
Handing down the Isaac Regional Council budget, mayor Anne Baker said stage one of the Clermont Showground and Saleyards revitalisation program would continue be implemented with $650,000 from the Queensland Government's Jobs and Regional Growth Fund.
"The saleyards are integral to the region's thriving beef sector and the showgrounds are host to a wide array of wonderful community events, including the annual Clermont Show," she said.
Stage one includes $1 million in electrical, water and IT upgrades to the facility.
A 20-year master plan for the development of the precinct was unveiled earlier this year after the council last year formed an advisory committee.
The council will seek funding for projects in stage 2 of the revitalisation, with early priorities drawn from the master plan including acquiring adjacent land to create a new showgrounds main entrance to separate the public entry area from cattle transport loading facilities,the development of six new spelling yards, the replacement of the rodeo ring as part of a new set of holding yards and loading ramps and the refurbishment of the southern show pavilion.
The estimated investment needed for the package of related upgrades is $2.95 million.
