YOUNG Angus producers are being invited to sign up for the GenAngus Future Leaders Program in 2020 following the success of the inaugural program which was launched this year.
The program, which is an initiative of Angus Australia and specialist farm insurer Achmea, aims to empower young industry leaders aged from 18-40 with the skills to run successful and sustainable beef businesses.
Eleven young beef industry enthusiasts took part in this year's program, which started with a three-day intensive workshop in Sydney. It covered topics including business financials, beef business networking, mindset, beef supply chain, risk and liability, marketing and communications and succession planning.
Inverell's Ashley Coleman, who took part in this year's program, said he took home plenty of information to implement on his own farm.
Fellow 2019 participant Joshua Clift, Scone, said the attendees had a great range of perspectives of the industry.
"All the sessions had a lot of relevance for what I am doing now and will help me improve on what I am trying to achieve."
Angus Australia events and youth development officer Candice Liddle said she was looking forward to working with another group of enthusiastic individuals who share a passion in 2020.
"It was great to see the participants taking information and guidance from the workshop to implement into their own businesses and operations as we continue to guide them through this 12-month program," Mrs Liddle said.
Achmea CEO Emma Thomas said she was proud to back the next generation of beef industry leaders, who would secure the future resilience of the industry.
"By sharing knowledge to help broaden participants' skillsets, they will be better equipped to invest in themselves, their businesses, their families and ultimately the future of their agricultural communities".
Registrations for the 2020 program will open later this year. For more information visit the Angus Australia website.
