RESTOCKERS and lot feeders underpinned a solid sale at Central Queensland Livestock Exchange, Gracemere, on June 14.
Sale organisers were delighted with the expansion of the buying bench although prices paid showed little, if any, change on the previous week's trade.
Buyers were given ample opportunities with a yarding of 3038 head, substantially up on the numbers of a week before.
The yarding comprised 1657 steers,1049 heifers, 226 cows, 34 bulls and 72 cow and calf lots.
As has happened previously, the majority of cattle presented were drawn from local producers and were rated to be of "good quality" and in good "condition".
Average prices paid for steers were 253c/kg (slaughter), 268c/kg for steers 401-500kg, 239c/kg for steers 301-400kg, 237c/kg for steers 201-300kg and 201c/kg for steers under 200kgs.
Cows averaged 174c/kg (slaughter), 167c/kg 400-450kg and 109c/kg 320-400kg.
Heifers generated average prices of 232c/kg (heavy), 201c/kg 301-400kg, 170c/kg 201-300kg, 153c/kg Under 200kg.
Bulls over 600kg averaged 242c/kg, 450kg-600kg 255c/kg and up to 450kg 224c/kg.
P Bahnisch, Ridgelands, sold Brahman x steers for 263c, weighing 520kg to return $1367/hd.
The Creed Grazing, Raglan sold a run of red Brahman feeder steers to a top of 278c, for an average of 273c, weighing 443kg for a return of $1211/hd. They also sold Brahman cows to a top of 238c, weighing 503kg to return $1198/hd.
Coolibah Livestock Co, Moura, parted with Droughtmaster x steers to average 284c, weighing 388kg for a yield of $1103/hd.
A & D Davies, Ubobo, sold Charbray x steers for 270kg, weighing 270kg to return $732/hd.
W & T Luhrs, Moura, sold quality Droughtmaster cows to average 195c, weighing 595kg to return $1160/hd, while R & A Sparrow, Yaamba, cashed Brahman heifers to top at 239c, weighing 466kg to return $1115/hd.
SG & J Davies, Ubobo, sold Charbray x heifers for 198c, weighing 249kg to return $494/hd.
