A top of $10,000 was reached at the Bowenfels Angus Females of the Future sale on Saturday.

The sale, held at Kingaroy's Coolabunia Selling Complex and simulataneously online through Elite Livestock Auctions, attracted buyers from as far afield as Tambo and even Victoria.

Of the females 26 out 36 sold to a top of $6000, averaging $3796, while seven out of 12 bulls sold to $10,000, averaging $5571.

Commanding the top price of $10,000 was Bowenfels Maverick M13, bought by Geoff Hartwig, Eidsvold.

A son of PC Stainless Steel G169 out of Bowenfels Diana H6, the 31-month-old bull has been a successful broad ribbon winner at local agricultural shows, also claiming ribbons last year at Beef Australia and the Ekka.

Ashley Barron and family, Kumbia, paid $6000 for top-priced female Bowenfels Jewel N11, one of six head they picked up at the sale.

The rising two-year-old heifer was sired by Bowenfels Bandos Boy out of Bulliac Mildred L35, who was won by Bowenfels Angus' Chloe Gould at the 2016 Angus Youth Roundup in Armidale.

The sale represented a partial dispersal for Bowenfels Angus as stud principal Glen Perrett reduces numbers to focus more on his bullock-fattening operation.

Mr Perrett said they were reasonably happy with the prices, given the tough seasonal conditions.

"There were a number of stud-breeders at the sale and also some people just starting to set up studs so we were mainly happy to see those great females go to good future homes," he said.

"Some of them will probably be seen in the show rings, which is great.

"We've sold quite a few after the sale so it probably ended up closer to a 90 per cent clearance."
