The Brahman breed continued its dominance in the stud cattle judging at the Rockhampton Show claiming two of the three interbreed supreme champion awards on Thursday.
The Brahman breed won the award for both the supreme bull and supreme breeders group, while the Brangus breed was awarded the supreme female.
The supreme classes were judged by a trio of cattlemen including Glen Waldron, Elite Cattle Co, Meandarra, Ross Milner, Bushlands, Baralaba, and Ben Hill, Bulliac Angus Stud, Miles, each giving their points on merit.
Andrew and Roxanne Olive and family, Raglan Brahmans, Raglan, exhibited the supreme champion bull, 30 month-old Raglan Mr Coglan 2874 (IVF) (H).
Raglan Mr Coglan is a son of JDH Carson de Manso 834/7 (Imp US) from a Hamdenvale Rocky female who was bought at the Big Country Bull and Female sale, Charters Towers.
Commenting on behalf of the judges, Glen Waldron said the win was a unanimous decision by the judging panel.
"This bull has so much to offer the breed and is 10 per cent in front of where breeders want to be today," Mr Waldron said.
The Olive family are undecided if they will take a team to the Ekka due to the prolonged drought.
Supreme female was Brangus cow Voewood Mercedes, exhibited by the Quinn family, Voewood, Calliope.
Voewood Mercedes was earlier the grand champion female in the Tropical Breeds competition at Rockhampton.
No stranger to the show ring, Voewood Mercedes was junior champion female at Beef 2018.
Other wins include grand champion female, and supreme exhibit at the Brangus feature event held at the Cooyar Show.
Voewood Mercedes will now prepare for competition in Brangus judging at the Ekka.
Commenting on behalf of the judges, Ben Hill said it was a pleasure to find such a feminine female.
"This female is structurally correct, has the length and depth of body and is smooth coated," Mr Hill said.
Exhibited with a heifer calf at foot, Mercedes, is by CB Final Cut from Elton SC Sweet Time 1119.
The supreme breeders group consisted of two bulls and a female, exhibited by Lawson Camm and family, Cambil Brahmans, Proserpine.
The Camm family will also exhibit their show team at the Ekka, following on from their success over the past two days at the Rockhampton Show.
Commenting on behalf of the judges, Ross Milner said the group was very consistent with the two bulls a perfect pair, and a lovely female.
