One of the co-founders of the Australian Trucking Association, Bruce McIvor, has been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Mr McIvor has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant service to both politics and the road transport industry.
Mr McIvor co-founded the ATA in 1989 and held the position as chair from 1991 to 1994. He was the inaugural president of the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland
He also enjoyed strong links to the National Party of Queensland and was both vice president from 2005-06 and president from 2006 to 2008. In 2008 Mr McIvor became a member of the Liberal Party of Australia, including holding the positions of the inaugural president of Liberal National Party of Queensland from 2008-2015. At the same time he was an member of the federal executive.
Mr McIvor was given honorary life membership of the Liberal National Party of Queensland in 2012.
He was an inductee of both the Road Transport Pioneers Wall of Fame and National Road Transport Hall of Fame, in 2003.
Kevin Pattel was officially recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to the livestock transport industry.
Mr Pattel's family were one of the pioneering families that created the live cattle haulage industry of today.
He founded KT and JE Pattel Livestock Transport, in 1962. Mr Pattel was instrumental in introducing volumetric loading, which reduced the cost of carting cattle by up to 20 per cent.
The Pattels have provided garage, contract mustering, and well-boring services. Members of the family have chaired the school P&Cs, run social clubs and have been heavily involved in rugby league.
The road coming in to Richmond is named the Pattel Road in the family's honour.
Mr Pattel has been a prominent figure in the community and personally helped hundreds of people through tough times.
