In what has been described as a challenging economic climate, businesses who continue to adapt are still experiencing growth.
One Toowoomba-based business which continues to grow is Mort & Co who celebrated the opening of their newly refurbished office at the old Bellevue Hotel on Tuesday evening.
Mort & Co continues to re-invest in the local economy and employs more than 150 staff. It operates the Grassdale, Pinegrove and Gunnee Feedlots and has a capacity to feed more than 100,000 cattle.
Mort & Co's new head office is coincidentally located on the corner of Mort and Bridge Streets on the Mort Estate in Toowoomba, and the growth of the business marks its willingness to remain Toowoomba based.
"We employ mainly Toowoomba and Darling Downs locals and with our recent expansions as a result of both domestic, but particularly foreign demand, our team continues to grow, as did our need for a larger office space," Mort & Co managing director Charlie Mort said.
The building was restored from its historical Bellevue Hotel origins which was built in 1904. Many features of the building have been preserved in the refurbished design in an effort to merge the old with the new.
