There were 1519 cattle and 7972 sheep offered on AuctionsPlus last week.

Cattle numbers continue to decline with 1519 head listed last week, a decrease of 493 head. Queensland buyers continue to look interstate to NSW, purchasing 310 head from the north west slopes and plains, northern tablelands and central west regions. A highlight saw 50 Santa Gertrudis backgrounder heifers from Goodooga, NSW return 216c. These heifers are 12-26 months, weigh 288kg and will travel 1600kms to Richmond.

Weaned steers sold from 245c to 273c, averaging 264c. The top price was returned by a line of 88 Santa Gertrudis and Angus cross steers a/c Tippendale South, St George. These steers are 9-12 months, weigh 297kg and will remain locally. Other highlights saw a line of 26 Charolais cross feeder steers from JD and KM McNally return 261c. These steers are 15-18 monhts, weigh 387kg and found a buyer in Lavington, NSW.

Averaging 229c backgrounder heifers sold from 228c to 230c. The top price was returned by a line 97 Santa Gertudis cross heifers a/c FJ and JM Zahl, Rolleston. These heifers are 12-18 months, weigh 298kg and will remain locally. Other highlights saw feeder heifers sell for 235c and 245c. The top price was returned by a line of 28 Charolais cross Droughtmaster heifers a/c JD and KM McNally, Murrays Bridge. These heifers are 16-18 months, weigh 371kg and found a buyer in Lavington, NSW. One line of weaned heifers from Stanthorpe a/c PD and A Reimers sold for 182c. These heifers are 12-15 months, weigh 242kg and will travel to Lavington, NSW.

Cows and calves sold for $690. This line of 15 Angus and Charolais cross station mated cows from Max Palmer, Stanthorpe, are 4-12 years of age, weigh 453kg with the 13 CAF sired by Angus bulls and aged 2-4 months. The line will travel to Tenterfield, NSW.

SHEEP

Sheep numbers decreased last week by 3957 to total 7972 head. The reduced listing size saw an increase in demand for the lots with a 100 per cent clearance achieved. 72pc of the listings found buyers in NSW with Victorian and SA buyers also active.

The offering of Merino wethers and wether lambs sold from $95 to $114, averaging $95. From Talwood, 440 woolgrower wethers a/c TJ and AE Oliver returned the top price. These wethers are Mumlbebone and Haddon Rig blood, rising 2 years, weigh 42kg with a 1" skin and will travel to Forbes, NSW. From Cunnamulla, a line of 95 store wether lambs returned $77. These wethers are Oct/Nov '18 drop, weigh 24kg with a 3/4" skin and will travel to Orange, NSW.

Averaging $101, Merino ewes sold from $64 to $154. From Longreach, two lines of NSM ewes a/c H.H. Macintosh & Co returned top price. These ewes are Karbullah and Boyanga blood, 20-22 months, weigh 42kg with a 1 1/2" skin and will travel to Bourke, NSW. From Texas, a line of 550 ewes sold to a buyer in Hay, NSW for $70. These ewes are Nerstane blood, rising 6 years and weigh 37kg with a 1/2" skin.

SIL ewes sold for $163 and $165, with both lines being offered by Cowley Enterprisees Pty Ltd, Goondiwindi. The line of 500 Poll Merino ewes returned the top price. These ewes are Laidlaw blood, 52-56 months, weigh 47kg with a 1 3/4" skin, are SIL to Poll Merino rams and will travel 1600kms to Naracoorte, SA.

Mixed sex lambs sold from $111.5 to $150, averaging $128. H.W. Mace and N.A. Cameron, Morven, offered a line of 459 mixed sex dorper lambs which returned top price. These lambs are Boondarra and Kaya blood, Aug/Oct '18 drop, weigh 41kg and will travel to Browns Plains, Vic.
