A dog is truly a man's best friend when handling cattle with this precision.
The dog trials have been a major part of the field days for more than 20 years.
As the dogs and their masters compete with one another to 'handle a herd of cattle' around an obstacle course they are allotted points in the overall competition.
Our working Cattle Dog Sale commences on June 21, at 3pm.
The following day, June 22, the Working Cattle Dog trials winners presentation will be held at 12pm.
Competitors come from far and wide to compete in this event which remains as popular today as it was 20 years ago.
Ag-Grow Emerald Field Days manager, Donna Reeves, said the dog trials are a very popular event.
"The Working Cattle Dog Trials have been a very popular event since its inception more than 20 years ago," she said.
"I believe a lot of its popularity is down to the diverse demographic of visitors to the Ag-grow Emerald field Days.
"The dogs work with both sheep and cattle and that appeals to a very wide market.
"The event always draws a big crowd and the dog people stay at the grounds for the three days.
"Mr Steve Biles has been running the event for more than 20 years and does a fantastic job.
"It is a true testament to his efforts and professionalism that the Working Cattle Dog Trials are as popular as they are."
