The Chinchilla district property, Seymour, has sold under the hammer for $1.96 million.
Offered by the Prior family, it sold to Wallumbilla cattle producers Kathy Moloney and Ross Graham, Kandarra Valley, Wallumbilla.
Seymour is situated 90 kilometres north of Chinchilla in the tightly held Auburn district.
It consists of 1051 hectares of undulating country. Approximately 45 per cent is good scrub soil country established to improved pastures. About 5pc represents semi-cleared country and the balance is forest country still with a body of grass.
A feature of the property is the water storage having 13 dams plus a bore. Being undulating country the water can be gravity fed to the many troughs throughout the property.
Seymour was previously run as a Droughtmaster Stud and it has a lot of small paddocks and laneways.
Ms Moloney said after recently failing to secure local country recently, they inspected Seymour and it appealed.
"In the short term we will off load cattle from Wallumbilla as we are is running out of grass," Ms Moloney said.
"In the long term we will continue to breed at Wallumbilla and send our weaners and culled cows under the care of a caretaker.
"We will use Seymour as backgrounding country as it is closer to the feedlots.
Selling agent Margaret Whip, PS & R, Chinchilla said the sale result was a good reflection on the quality of the property and in particular available grass.
