The annual Eidsvold Livestock and Property Tony Haupt Memorial Show and Weaner Cattle Sale was held at Eidsvold on Thursday. Judge Peter Dingle, of Redline Brangus, was impressed with the quality of the yarding on offer.
It was the largest sale held at the Eidsvold Saleyards in over 10 years. To have such a quality yarding from start to finish is a credit to all the vendors and they should all be congratulated. Cattle came from Gin Gin, Biggenden, Theodore, Monto, Mt Perry, Mundubbera, Gayndah and Eidsvold.
It was a close decision between the winning pens and the winners were as follows:
Best steers - under 50pc tropical breed content: Harold and Pam Dwyer.
Best heifers - under 50pc tropical breed content: Ken and Cindy Darrow.
Best steers - over 50pc tropical breed content: Harold and Pam Dwyer.
Best heifers - over 50pc tropical breed content: Crescent Valley.
Overall champion male pen: Harold and Pam Dwyer.
Overall champion female pen: Ken and Cindy Darrow.
Steers 200-300kg sold to 290c/kg, steers 300-400kg sold to 288c, and steers over 750kg sold to 238c. Heifers 200-300kg sold to 237c, while heifers 300-400kg sold to 236c. Cows 400-520kg sold to 230c and bulls over 750kg sold to 238c.
Eidsvold Brangus heifers sold for 237c at 250kg returning $594/head. Eidsvold Charolais heifers sold for 236c at 725kg returning $879/head. Eidsvold Brangus steers sold for 290c at 324kg returning $775/head. Mount Perry Droughtmaster cross cows sold for 230c at 456kg returning $1050/head. Biggenden Charbray cross steers sold for 288c at 277kg returning $880/head.
