It certainly has been an eventful year since last year's Ag-Grow event.
Unprecedented bushfires swept through Central and North Queensland, and history-making floods decimated the cattle herd. All taking place as drought continued to plague most of the state.
According to AgForce's central Queensland regional president, John Baker, the state government has continued to make life difficult for producers, defending and enforcing its ineffective and unfair vegetation management laws and introducing a bill to make the Reef Protections legislation equally invasive for producers.
Throughout these challenges, AgForce has continued to support and stand up for members and for the industry.
I invite all producers, whether or not members of AgForce, to visit our stand and find out what we have been doing to make our industry more productive, profitable and sustainable.
- John Baker
Mr Baker said it was heartening to see producers not only weathering the challenges, but looking optimistically towards the future.
"There is plenty to look forward to and I am proud to see the way we have pulled together behind AgForce and focused on the positives," he said.
"I invite all producers, whether or not members of AgForce, to visit our stand and find out what we have been doing to make our industry more productive, profitable and sustainable.
"AgForce will again hold its Sundowner social event for members and invited guests from 5pm, Friday night.
"This is a terrific opportunity for producers from across central Queensland to catch up for some fun after a tough year."
Sundowner is one of the largest gatherings of AgForce members every year, often attracting up to 300 people. AgForce Queensland is a peak organisation representing Queensland's rural producers. It strives to ensure the long term growth, viability, competitiveness and profitability of broad acre industries of cattle, grain, sheep and wool in Queensland.
AgForce was born out of the need for a single, united voice for broadacre producers with the merging of the Cattlemen's Union of Australia, the Queensland Graingrowers Ass and the United Graziers' Ass in 1998.
