NINETEEN individual Queensland-based breeders have consigned weanlings for auction at the annual National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast starting today.
The sale wll run until May late on May 24 during which the Magic Millions group will put more than 700 young thoroughbreds under the hammer.
Of the 19 Queensland breeders, 11 will offer progeny of first season sires and the remainder will rely on stock of proven stallions.
Newchum sires being used are Air Force Blue (War Front-Chatham-Maria's Mon), American Pharoah (Pioneer Of The Nile-Littleprincessemma-Yankee Gentleman), Astern (Medaglia D'Oro-Essaouria-Exceed And Excel), Capitalist (Written Tycoon-Kitalpha-Fusaichi Pegasus), Counterattack (Redoute's Choice-Kisma-Snippets), Defcon (Choisir-Nuclear Force-Encosta De Lago), Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt-Exremely-Hussonet), Kiss And Make Up (More Than Ready-Fashions Afield-Redoute's Choice), Flying Artie (Artie Schiller-Flying Ruby-Rubiton), Sooboog (Snitzel-Monte Rosa-Fraar), Star Turn (Star Witness-Golden Delicious-Made Of Gold) and Territories (Invincible Spirit-Taranto-Machiavellian).
Working through the breeders alphabetically Amber Lodge, Boonah, has five weanlings for sale with colts by Sizzling (Lot 694) and Amber Grey (695 and 707) and fillies by Amber Grey 708 and 720).
Clearwater Farm, Tamborine, has entered eight weanlings - fillies by Sizzling (683), Bel Esprit (686), Falvelon (690), Statue of Liberty (693), Falvelon (709) and Instinction (721) as well as colts by Spill The Beans (702) and Domeday (712).
Eureka Stud, Cambooya, has listed a colt by Written Tycoon (94) and fillies by Defcon (98) and Capitalist (343).
Alexia Fraser Booldstrock, Warwick, will be the selling agent for fillies by Defcon (28) and Unencumbered (547).
Gainsborough Lodge, Toowoomba, has colts by Foxwedge (176) and Choisir (545) alongside fillies by Counterattack (203), Dundeel (406), Spill The Beans (462) and Husson (691).
KBL Thoroughbreds, Beaudesert, is taking two colts by Husson (383) and Super One (451) to the sale with a filly by Dream Ahead (171).
Kenmore Lodge, Wyreema, has a solid draft with colts by Flying Artie (129), Nicconi (143), Vancouver (327), Rubick (533) and Extreme Choice (570) and the fillies by Deep Field (243), Dissident (435), Furnaces (453) and No Nay Never (652).
Lyndhurst Stud, Warwick, has two colts in a consignment of nine by Dissident (177) and Foxwedge (605). They wlll accompany fillies by Dissident (289 and 386), Wandjina (373), Capitalist (390), Pierro (409), Star Witness (412) and Brazen Beau (579).
