An unexpected influx of 17 teams from many parts of Queensland put on a great spectacle for the annual Tambo Polocrosse Club carnival on the weekend.
President Jacob Ross said the club had dug in and run the carnival despite the ups and downs of the year, in accordance with the wishes of their late past president Scott Sargood.
Also acknowledging the void that many felt at carnival from Mr Sargood's passing, club captain Jeff Lloyd said they were doing exactly what he would have wanted.
"That's to shake hands and have a good time," he said.
A minute's silence was held for Mr Sargood prior to the A grade final on Sunday afternoon.
As commentator Barry Mayne said, the Tambo club was known all over Australia thanks to the efforts of the Sargood family.
The team from Bauhinia won the A grade competition, pipping Warwick at the post by 0.01 of a point on a countback and earning their name on the Bob Sargood Memorial trophy.
Bauhinia's Michael Markham-Gordon received the best horse and rider trophy, while Willie Taylor took out the best under 21 prize.
In B grade, Tambo won the competition and Wandoan was the runner-up.
Jacob Ross won the best horse and rider award for B grade while his wife Amy was the carnival's best lady player and her horse Foster Bluey was judged the champion horse of the carnival.
Wandoan's Hunter Gould received the Herb Bredhauer encouragement award, while Tambo's Hunter and Lara French were best junior boy and girl players.
Charleville won the C grade competition while Gold Coast was the runner-up.
Charleville's Dave Sargood accepted the best horse and rider award for C grade.
In D grade, Roma III took the honours with Tambo II runners-up. Tambo's Matt Sargood and Wrangler were best horse and rider in this grade.
