A guide has been created to help landholders navigate interactions with gas companies.
The Gas Guide pulls together vital information about gas development into a ring binder, designed to be easy to update as legislation develops or new information becomes available.
GasFields Commission communications director Murray Cornish said about six months of work had gone into creating a resource that put all of the relevant information into one place, catering to the different stages of gas development landholders might be facing.
"As far as I know, it's the first time it's been done," he said.
"This starts from the day the gas company is awarded explorations all the way through to rehabilitation at the end.
"We've got areas in the Surat Basin where the process is quite advanced but there are also people around the Cecil Plains area that are about to discover what this is like."
It comes after the commission created the GasApp to help producers estimate compensation they may be entitled to.
The guide is broken into 11 chapters including a road map that landholders can put up on their wall to follow the various stages of gas development.
As new information becomes available or other information becomes obsolete, individual chapters will be updated.
The Gas Guide will also be available online on the GasFields Commission website.
