Testing seasonal conditions didn't prevent a quality showing of Braford cattle as the breed's feature show returned to Taroom for the first time in three decades.
Nine exhibitors from two states displayed 40 head of quality Braford cattle at the Taroom Show last week.
It was the first time the Braford feature show had been held at Taroom since 1988, with several studs that were involved then turning out again to take part.
Australian Braford Society president Dan Galloway said the quality was good considering the seasonal conditions.
"There were 14 bulls that are going to the national sale," he said.
"The cattle came from down at Casino right through to Banana."
Judge Warren Wilson from Taroela Braford Stud at Mitchell, and associate Airlie Treloar from Chessington Braford Stud, Naracoorte, SA praised the standard of the cattle put before them.
Grand champion female went to Robert and Lesette Hoffmann, Downfall Creek, Guluguba for Downfall Creek Cruel Girl, shown with her 7-month-old bull calf at foot Downfall Creek Hooligan.
Downfall Creek Cruel Girl was named senior champion female, with Downfall Creek Floss coming in as reserve senior champion female.
Also in the Downfall Creek show team was a daughter of Cruel Girl, Downfall Creek Grace, who took out the Dams Progeny class.
Mr Wilson said that she was the complete package and an outstanding example of the Braford female.
Grand champion bull went to the Bennett family, Little Valley Brafords, Casino for 33-month-old Little Valley Richard 2976, who first took out senior champion bull.
Judges said he displayed great softness with good length and muscle pattern and was a very structurally correct animal.
The Bennett family also claimed calf champion female for Little Valley Miss Selbie, junior champion female for Little Valley Miss Glamorous, junior champion bull for Little Valley Thunder, reserve calf champion bull with Little Valley Lantern and reserve junior champion bull with Little Valley Kenyan.
Calf champion bull was Strathgyle Cambridge, exhibited by the McNamara family.
Reserve calf champion female was won by Pen-Leigh Caitlyn, exhibited by Penny Vohland, with reserve junior champion female taken out by Ms Vohland's Pen-Leigh Elise.
Reserve senior champion bull was Strathgyle Jimmy, exhibited by the McNamara family.
