LIBBY Moore knows Oprah Winfrey.
I mean really knows.
Not from watching her on tele, though she did take in every taping of the celebrity's widely syndicated show.
But as her chief-of-staff for 11 interesting, fun-filled, draining years.
Ms Moore, who as a youngster wanted to be a cowgirl, surfer or a truckie, will front the ladies at the Don Your Denim luncheon on May 4 during the 2019 Paradise Lagoon campdraft, recounts her days with a strange blend of fondness, gratitude, pleasure and pain.
"I hit the job jackpot. I got to take care of her so that she could do what she did best. It was my pleasure to support her in that way," Moore once told Women's Agenda.
"As far as pressure goes the highs were super high and the lows were super low. Not because of Oprah, because of everything else swirling around that level of power, money and fame.
"Again, if it were not for the excellent team of assistants that I worked with, I never could have made it in that job.
"I was absolutely burnt out and fried. I wasn't very good at balancing "my life." As amazing as the job was, and the friendship that Oprah and I had, my personal life was really suffering.
"I could not continue any longer in the position. I needed to take a leap of faith and see where I would land."
Ms Moore would pack plenty into her day, which often began at 7am and finished sometime after 10pm. On any given day she could answer 250 emails and catch the taping of Oprah's show, which was broadcast in 144 countries.
But there's more to her story than the Oprah link, as poignant as it may be for some. She has an Associates degree in Radio and Television, sold advertising, written radio commercials, spent two years as a ski-bunny in Colorado, was a personal assistant to talk show host Maury Povich and been a stand-up comic.
The Don Your Denim ladies luncheon runs from noon-3pm and the ticket cost ($135pp) covers a two-course sit down lunch, selection of wine and bubbles and lucky door prizes.
