THRILLED organisers are already thinking of 2020 after wrapping a highly successful ICMJ northern conference in Rockhampton.
A capacity registration and a packed schedule of presentations, workshops, visits and social activities had conference officials looking to the next event with great expectations.
It was the first time the conference was held in the beef capital with earlier events conducted interstate.
The University of New England's Alastair Scott (500/62) was declared the overall individual champion over University of Queensland student Lawton Eliott (490/628).
However, UQ was named overall team champion with its quartet of Lawton and Rhett Elliott, Mia Doering and Belinda Weber outpointing UNE (Alastair Scott, Alexandra Ross, Elizabeth Argue and Sophie Cooper).
In other awards Camilla Stokes (Central Queensland University, 56/78) beat Belinda Weber (UQ, 53/78) for individual honours in the Retail Cuts and Saleable Items Identification while UNE won the team event in that category.
Alastair Scott and Alexandra Ross filled the quinella in Overall Questions and UNE won the team gong.
In Overall Placing Elizabeth Argue (UNE) beat Laura Bignall (UNE) and their university made it a clean sweep in that division by taking the team award.
Lawton Elliott (142/150) won Commercial Evaluation and Beef Judging went to Alexandra Ross (327/400) over Mia Doering (138/150) and Alastair Scott (326/400), respectively.
