Wagners Risdon Cup entered the fourth round last Friday night under lights with a gallant Gatton Blackpigs narrowly going down to the consistent USQ Saints 22-20 in front of a spirited Gatton crowd.
Saturday saw the Dalby Wheatmen host the unbeaten Roma Echidnas. Roma was able to claw back in a close battle, eventually prevailing 31-24 winners, to remain unbeaten after four rounds, and competition leaders.
Goondiwindi Emus hosted their annual Old Boys Day with a sell out crowd at Riddles Oval. In a one-sided game against the Condamine Cods, the old boys were delighted to watch a 79-5 spectacle, getting the incumbent Premiers' season and for-and-against well on track.
The Toowoomba Bears, besieged by recent showed much spirit at Heritage Oval, succumbing to a polished Toowoomba Rangers outfit 33-14.
Five Downs Rugby Under 12 clubs converged on The Armidale Schools Rugby Carnival. Dalby Wheatmen, Highfields Redbacks, South Toowoomba Kookaburras, Toowoomba Bears, and the Toowoomba Anglican School all participated to represent the Downs region proudly.
The Wagners Risdon Cup fixture rests over this Easter weekend, resuming Round 5 on April 27. In the undisputed Wagners' Match of the Round, the resurgent, unbeaten, ladder-leading Roma Echidnas host the 2018 premiers, Goondiwindi Emus at Gallas Park, a match that should not be missed.
