Celebrating the 25th annual Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival punters enjoyed some North West racing action over the weekend.
More than 800 socialites attended the event on Saturday afternoon (April 13), featuring racing action from North West Queensland competitors.
The Country Tastes Luncheon was also well attended with Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones making an appearance for the weekend.
The six race schedule kicked off with the Great Northern Class B Handicap 1350m and featured Keith Ballard on Enterprise Rosie take first place, followed by Tim Brummell on The Big Sheila and Shaun Mossman on Scottabee.
Race two, Booth Rural Benchmark 65 Handicap 1350m saw Jason Babarovich on Do I Have To take the lead followed by Tim Brummell on Hunting and Shaun Mossman on Dreamward Bound.
The Johnson's Grader Hire Benchmark 45 Handicap 1100m saw Dan Ballard on Crystal Bear have a big lead over Tim Brummell on Dutch Twist, followed by Ric McMahon on Dutton Bay in third.
Race four, the Julia Creek Hotel/Top Pub Benchmark 69 Handicap 1100m saw a tight finish with Dan Ballard on Bowie Rocks in front of Tim Brummell on Clateau, followed by Ray Hancock on How Big's The Hole in third.
The McKinlay Shire Council Artesian Express Class 2 Handicap 1200m saw Dan Ballard in the lead on Brooklands, followed by Keith Ballard on Leica Celebre and Tamara Morris on Abba Original.
The final race, S.N. Gabbert Constructions/Auzscot Constructions QTIS Maiden Plate 1200m saw Tim Brummell on Budmeister with a promising lead over Tamara Morris on Violet Jane and Keith Ballard on Punchie.
