The 2019 Landmark Supreme Toowoomba Horse Sale will feature the biggest line up of top quality performance horses to date according to Landmark Equines' Hannah Murray.
Ms Murray said this year's catalogue consists of performance bred ASH, AQHA and EPRA registered lots with 135 yearlings, 30 broodmares and 172 ridden horses to go under the hammer during the sale being held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.
She said the event will run as usual over the first week of May, on Thursday, May 2 through Sunday, May 5.
"We'll be holding the campdraft/challenge competition from Thursday to Saturday, pre-works on Friday, the led (yearlings and broodmares) auction on Saturday and the ridden horse auction on Sunday," Ms Murray said.
Ms Murray said continuing improvement in catalogue quality, increased incentives and an expanded competition program has seen the annual event become one of the most successful performance horse sales in Australia.
"The 2019 sale catalogue features a strong line-up of genetics from Australia and the US. There is a steed for every need with the genetics and level of training to suit any buyer's preference," she said.
"There's an ever-growing passion for Australian-bred performance horses, as the sport of campdrafting continues to grow in popularity across the nation.
"The quality of this year's catalogue is testament to the dedication of our vendors, who are continually striving to improve the genetics and training of their horses to meet buyer demand."
"There are 174 vendors, hailing from as far as western Qld, Victoria and even Tasmania, attending this year's event which represents close to a 20 per cent increase from the 2018 sale."
She said despite the success the 2018 sale draft achieved in reaching a $1.34 million gross and setting an overall sale average record, the Landmark Equine team are continually striving to improve the sale experience.
"We've increased the prize pools for our incentive events - with over $32,000 in cash and prizes on offer between the Landmark Supreme Me-Cow Mechanical Cow Five and Under Campdraft and the Landmark Dalgety Two-Year-Old Challenge.
"In total, the competition program will boast seven feature events and over $80,000 in cash and prizes on offer."
She said a huge number of horses purchased at the sale in previous years have gone on to succeed in a wide range of disciplines.
"A recent sale graduate success story was the winner of the 2019 Prydes EasiFeed Australian Performance Horse Challenge (held annually at the Landmark Classic in Tamworth, NSW), Sheady Spin'N'Pepsi.
"She was sold by long term sale supporters Brian and Kayleen Sutton at the 2016 sale as a yearling, to Glen and Kim Frazer of Playmore ASH.
"In 2017 she returned to the sale, where she competed and placed fifth in the Two-Year-Old Challenge with Brett Welsh riding.
"The Frazers then put her through the 2018 Landmark Classic Sale as a three-year-old, where she sold to Wayne and Lisa McDonell. Wyatt Young had the ride in the 2019 Challenge and the rest is history."
Ms Murray said pre-work demonstrations for all 2019 sale horses (led parade for yearlings/broodmares and dry/cattle work for ridden horses) will be held on Friday, May 3 from 8am in the Toowoomba Showgrounds indoor arena.
