With rainfall of 50mm to 150mm over the weekend in the local area, a smaller yarding of 172 head were sold at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale on Monday.
With some widespread rain over the south east the market kicked for all types, except cows, which remained firm. Some lines of younger cattle sold for nearly double compared to the previous sale. Feeder cattle also sold too much improved rates.
Alberton Investments, Bald Hills, sold Charbray cows for $1380 and Droughtmaster cows for $920. Ian Kent, Samsonvale, sold Braford cows for $870. Nigel Rickman, Ningi, sold Santa steer calves for $600. Friedrich family, Toogoolawah, sold Greyman heifers for $525.
Ian Davis, Moore, sold Brahman male calves for $555. Barry Hulcombe, Witta, sold Droughtmaster calves, with steers making $490 and heifers $535. Noel Ardrey, Linville, sold Santa steers for $795. Wade Jackson, Toogoolawah, sold Brahman male calves for $450.
