SWANFELS producer Vince Eastwell has come up trumps at the 9th annual Warwick Santa Gertrudis and Santa infused show and sale.
Mr Eastwell's champion pen was earlier judged as the champion pen of steers. The very well presented 420kg steers sold to 258c/kg return $1083/head.
Held at the Warwick saleyards on March 15, the 380 head yarding was judged by judged by Pat McMahon, McMahon Brothers, across four classes.
Reserve champion pen was Elizabeth Piggott's 461kg steers from Rose Valley, Bolivia, NSW, which sold for 256c.
Brian Webster and family Taroom, had the champion pen of steers in the up to 299kg category. The 257kg steers sold for 201c to return $516.
The Webster family also had the champion pen of weaner heifers. The 184kg females sold for 158c to average $291.
The champion joining age heifers were exhibited by Graeme and Beth Smith, Myola Santa Gertrudis, Gowrie Junction. They sold for 152c to return $523.
Other highlights included a pen of six 420kg steers offered by Graeme and Beth Smith, which made 252c to return $1058.
Sale chairman John McCarthy said it was a great line up of cattle and a credit to the vendors considering the dry conditions.
