Enhancing farm profitability has been a long term goal for Irish machinery business Keenan.
Since joining the Alltech family, Keenan have seen a renewed energy invested into design, innovation and technology to ensure their products exceed the demands of tomorrow's agricultural requirements.
With advances in precision farming, combined with thorough customer feedback, Keenan has evolved from a manufacturer of diet feeders into an Agritech company, developing disruptive IoT technologies that are driving smarter, more profitable farming in more than 40 countries.
Keenan diet feeders are fitted with InTouch, a live review feed management technology which provides real-time monitoring and optimisation of herd health, ration formulation, weight gains/yield, in addition to improving on-farm profits.
The InTouch network has grown to cover more than 3,000 farms, providing data and intelligence on more than 300,000 cattle across Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, Scandinavia, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the USA and other countries.
"InTouch uses data collected from all cows in the system to provide advice and constant improvement on herd performance," Keenan CEO, Robert Walker said.
"It uses live data to help farmers make better decisions about their animals.
"The controller on the side of the diet feeder is very intuitive and simple to use.
"It tells the farmer step by step what feed mix to put in the machine and then records the exact input of feed mix in the machine.
"The ease of using InTouch has been key to its success.
"Difference in diet can be quickly identified, assessed and corrected through the InTouch system.
"If there is a mistake or a deterioration in animal performance, the farmer is alerted, and an InTouch nutritionist will modify the diet accordingly.
"The IoT connected controller collects the exact data on what is being mixed for the animals.
"Data from milk and beef production is also recorded, so InTouch nutritionists are able to correlate the diets with the performance of the animal."
