More than 90 lots of semen have been donated for a charity auction being held to benefit North West Queensland flood victims.
The charity semen auction is being put on by the Australian Brahman Breeders' Association, with donations coming in from across Australia and even the US from about 40 vendors.
Funds raised will go to the Queensland Country Women's Associaton, Sisters of the North and BlazeAid.
Australian Brahman Breeders' Association manager Anastasia Fanning said the organisation had wanted to do something to help the north west and Brahman breeders had responded generously.
"There are some 800 breeders in that area who have been affected and a lot of those people breed Brahmans. There are also some large Brahman studs in the area but this semen auction is about the overall industry in the North West," she said.
Ms Fanning said the lots included some great quality genetics and they hoped to get plenty of interest.
"There are some fantastic bulls that aren't always on offer and some older semen as well so there are great opportunities for buyers," she said.
Among the sires with genes on offer is NCC Lord Delaware, with Palmal and 2AM Brahmans donating five straws and five registrations.
It's the first time semen has been sold to the wider industry from the impressive bull, who has provided Palmal and 2AM with more than 240 progeny.
Palmal's David McCamley said they expected the straws to sell well because Delaware progeny are very stylish cattle with good bone and sound temperament.
"A few people have been asking for it but we wanted to keep it to ourselves," he said.
"We decided to do it now just to help the people in that area out.
"His first two sons sold to average $37,500 at Lancefield last year and we will have some more impressive bulls in 2019."
Donations have also come from the US, with the family behind the renowned J.D. Hudgins ranch contributing several lots.
Bob Hudgins has contributed three lots of five straws, Steve Hudgins has donated two lots of 10 straws and a further lot of five straws have come from Mark Forgason.
Ms Fanning said American producers had been very willing to help out North West Queensland, citing semen donated by V8 Ranch at the Rocky All Stars Elite Brahman Female Sale as another example of generosity.
"The support from America has been really humbling," she said.
The auction catalogue is now available at the Australian Brahman Breeders' Association website.
Bidding will open on Friday at 9am through Elite Livestock Auctions, with the auction to end on Friday March 29 at 4pm.
