Elders Toowoomba will hand over a $26,000 donation to the Royal Flying Doctor Service Queensland after a successful sausage sizzle fundraiser.
The summer BBQ fundraiser was held on February 21 as part of Elders’ Give It program, an initiative designed to raise funds for organisations that help rural communities.
Elders Toowoomba branch manager Darren Hartwig said it was important to them support foundations who supported the community.
“The Toowoomba Big BBQ was a fantastic night, and we were so proud of our local community for rallying together to raise some awareness and money for a great cause," he said.
“We raised a grand total of $26,000 for RFDS and Lifeline, which provide vital services for regional and rural communities across Australia.”
The funds raised will be shared across the state's RFDS bases, based on what resources are needed, with some likely to be used for mental health programs and clinicians helping communities in flood affected areas of Queensland.
