A combination of cheaper prices the previous sale and the forecast of some rain reduced the supply of stock to half of the previous week’s level to 2997 at Dalby on Wednesday. Prices responded to the short supply and medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 18c/kg better. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 14c/kg dearer. Heavy grown steers and bullocks generally experienced little change in price. Nevertheless, a lift in quality improved average prices in places. Cows sold to a dearer trend to average 4c to 7c/kg dearer.
C2 yearling steers to restockers made from 220.2c to 249.2c, averaging 239.5c to be 6c/kg dearer. C2 yearling heifers to feed made from 137.2c to 181.2c to average 172.8c, representing an increase of 14c/kg.
Grown C4 steers made from 238.2c to 262.2c, averaging 248.8c, up 8c/kg. Grown D3 heifers made from 158.2c to 190c, averaging 166.9c, less 12c/kg. C4 manufacturing steers made 224.2c/kg. D4 cows made from 167.2c to 190.2c, averaging 178.5c and 4c/kg better. C3 bulls sold from 210.2c to 240c to average 226.4c, up 24c/kg.
